Every week i am posting a new challenge. let's get out of our scrapbooking "go-to-box". Let's do less pinning and dreaming..... actually MAKE something. even a little part of a project is better than nothing ;)
wink emoticon
This morning, i was talking to one of my daughter's preschool teachers and another fellow mom. we were discussing our hate/love relationship with pinterest. we love the ideas, but the pressure we/society put on ourselves to DO all of those crafts and to BE martha steward is just frustrating and not realistic. ( ie. i am pretty sure my family will be just fine if i do not complete the list of 3057025542 things to do this summer, churn my own butter, and make my own body soap)
anywho, with that said.... i still LOVE PINTEREST. So let's use that page as what it's intended to be-- a tool for inspiration, sharing, and the love of creating. ( NOT as "the standard" to how our daily lives should be!)
Go on pinterest and find a pin that inspires you, brings joy, helps with a task, gives you hope, makes you laugh.. whatever! Do it.
make that meal- report back some feedback wink emoticon
Print off that inspirational quote you love it and stick it on your fridge
do that workout
Try that cleaning hack ( and let us know if it actually works!)
and, of course, if you find a crafty post, do that too. smile emoticon
breathe. do something that makes you smile, post a pic/tell us what you did ( and share the pin, if you are so inclined!)
Life is hard enough, let's spend a few minutes enjoying it.
My Response:
this was my inspiration pin : https://www.pinterest.com/pin/251709066652610118/
and this is my page:
I had some random pics of my daughter that worked great for this one-pager. i love the sentiment, but i need to change the colors of the printable to match up with my photos and the papers.
the papers were ooooolllllddddd ( old!) i dont know where i got that polka dot paper from , but the colors worked great with the color of the sash on the dress. the mats were also from my scrap bin!
i have quite a few of the purple lace pages ( i bought it bulk to save $$ and in turn i ended up with too many! haha), so i was glad i was able to trim one in a kiwi "swoosh" to have an elegant pattern for the page.
the best part? i also submitted this photo in response to Kiwi Lane's challenge and i WON!!! whoo hoo!!!!!!! i cant wait to get my new accessory in the mail ;) i will make sure to show it off ;)

Scrap Challenge- STARS!
new challenge !!!!!wink emoticon
STARS!
the shape, the things in night sky, the shooting ones, the twinkling ones, the Hollywood type, Hans or Chewywink emotic or even those performers on stage... Let's see your Stars!;) , or even those performers on stage... Let's see your Stars!
Remember to post pics so we can all OOoooh and AAAaaaahhh..
My response??
My oldest daughter is having 2 American Girl themed birthday parties ( one family, one friends) in the next 3 weeks, and since the AG slogan is something about "finding your inner star...", i wanted to use this challenge to get ahead. :)
For every one of my kid's parties, i have created an "autograph" page. i decorate a 12x12" page to match the theme of the party, and add a large white section for all the guests to add their well wishes and notes ;)

Right now. it's fun to see what they say! it's also a great and personal way to document who came to the party.
Not to sound morbid, but let's face it.... we do not know what tomorrow holds. i still have a few birthday cards from my grandparents- something about seeing their handwriting brings a smile to my face. One day ( hopefully a long time from now), my kids will read sentiments and smile with thoughts of great memories ;)

Scrap Challenge- Bring the Heat!
Every week i am posting a new challenge. let's get out of our scrapbooking "go-to-box". Let's do less pinning and dreaming..... actually MAKE something. even a little part of a project is better than nothing ;)
new challenge!!!
We live in South East Michigan. we have super crazy weather ( it's not uncommon to wear shorts and a snowboots in one week! yes, the temp changes that much!!!!)
Anywho...during spring break this year--- there were icicles hanging from our swing set. not cool. i'm over winter. it was 70 the week before.
So, the challenge this week.....
in the words of Olaf..."let's bring back summer! ” summertime, sun, outdoor activities, beach, pool..... you get the idea;) warm me up.
My response....
Well, with the kids at home for their spring break and not exactly the ideal outdoor weather ( cold, wet, and just plain icky), i didnt get that much done. I bought a few "summer /beach" SVG files from some online designers, adding to my "i hope i cut these one day" collection.....
i pulled a kit from my overeager "i can get this done along with 50 other kits at my scrap retreat" left over kits;).... a lot of the pics are already cut, and the background is cut, inked and assembled. hmmm...wonder why it was back in the bag? guess im gonna find out soon enough!!
With the page half done, i was able to finish it during my son's nap time!
This page just makes me excited for July, which means camping, smores, and lots of family time outside ;) ahhhh.. i can smell the sunscreen already ;)
wink emoticon

Scrap Challenge- Organize!
Every week i am posting a new challenge. let's get out of our scrapbooking "go-to-box". Let's do less pinning and dreaming..... actually MAKE something. even a little part of a project is better than nothing ;)
new challenge!!!
i am hoping you are enjoying these challenges as much as i am. it's pulling me out of my scrappy comfort zone and holding me responsible for actually doing SOMETHING crafty each week. i'm loving it. smile emoticon
this week, i am going to challenge you to work on your scrappy/crafty SPACE. Maybe you are like me, and need to CLEAN/ORGANIZE your desk or floor... or maybe finally tackle that "i'll put this away later" pile that is now out of control!... maybe your mess is digital (oh the photos i need to print!)...
or maybe you have a clean space already and want to add photos or wall decor that inspires you ( and if that is you, and you are bored, i have lots of things that need some cleaning! haha)
look at your space and choose one pile, one corner, one shelf to clean and organize.... or, pick one season ( go find all of your "summer" paper and put it together) or color to focus on. ,,, or, if you have everything scattered around your house, maybe make a plan to put everything in one spot. maybe you want to organize photos into piles, etc.
Maybe you have been on pinterest and have a ton of ideas you want to try-- pick ONE and see where that leads you wink emoticon
or, if you already have keep/donate/sell piles ( usually suggested for any kind of organizing projects)-- list your stuff on this site ( or bump!), or donate those supplies, or load up your recycle bin!
so YOU need to pick what YOU need to work on to make sure you have the organization you want.
Yes, you can always go back to past challenges, but let's remember this challenge is designed for a ONE WEEK time period. so... pick a manageable project ( aka. dont expect that everything is going to look perfect in 7 days!!!!!). if you finish your small project early, then you can always add more to your goal! we want this project to be encouraging, not overwhelming.
So.. if you're brave, upload a "before" pic... and then let's see an "after" pic.
here's to getting our space back! and then next week, we can be just THAT more organized to work on the next challenge!
My response?
i have a pile of 12x12 papers that have been collecting in a "i need to put this away" pile....sooo...i need to put away!!
the pile is waaay bigger than it looks;)
...i totally "if you give a mouse a cookie"-ed this challenge.
oh look, this goes here, but then i need to move this, oh shoot that doesn't fit so i need a new box, ill just move this stuff.....wink emoticon
with some focus, i FINALLY was able to put away all those papers-- some went into my "for sale" pile, some into my "donate" pile.. and the rest in various organized drawers/filing folders based on subject or color ;)
Phew! feels good to have that 12x12" space back on my desk/floor ( or wherever i moved it to to get it out of my way instead of just putting it away weeks ago!)
new challenge!!!

Scrap Challenge- Squares
Every week i am posting a new challenge. let's get out of our scrapbooking "go-to-box". Let's do less pinning and dreaming..... actually MAKE something. even a little part of a project is better than nothing ;)
This week's challenge!!this week, you can blame my 4 year old daughter. i asked what her favorite shape was.... at this moment, it's a square. Soooo....
how many squares can you use on a page? wink emoticon
finish the challenge and then post a pic!!!!
this is an easy one!!!! i should see looooooooots of photos wink emoticon
( last week her favorite shape was a star, so i thought it would be a little harder of a challenge....oh well ;))
My response?
started with a 12x12 project life pocket page.... and i thought i was going to be cutting lots of squares. NOPE! they were mostly rectangles... oops!
here's a square photo with a square mat!!!
Since i have lots of photos of this trip, i also made a standard 12x12 page spread and made sure there were more squares! ;)

Scrap Challenge- BIG events
Every week i am posting a new challenge. let's get out of our scrapbooking "go-to-box". Let's do less pinning and dreaming..... actually MAKE something. even a little part of a project is better than nothing ;)
This week's challenge!
This week's challenge!
if you're like me, when it comes to scrapping...you would rather complete a few small things rather than tackle a big event. i dont think i've finished a "Christmas morning" scrap page in 6 years!!!
lets fix that.
this weeks challenge is to dive into a big event. if you are not able to scrap it, make some sort of progress. scrap PART of it, organize photos of your event, pick out papers and make a kit, break down that "Christmas 2010" into smaller piles to make into pages {christmas eve, morning, santa,).etc.

this is for any event that just seems overwhelming with photos, memorabilia, etc.: birthdays, weddings, holidays, vacation, sport tournament, new baby/pet, etc.
remember to post pics, even if its just progress in organizing piles into other piles....wink emoticon
we can do it! baby steps;);)

Easter.....
